Also, see my redesigns of Two-Face, Riddler, Catwoman and the Mad Hatter
This is something I've been working on little by little for like, months....there's still no shading, so it's kind of WIP, but honestly I kind of like the way my flat colors look here, so I'm leaving it alone for now.
I had been wanting to try to redesign some Batman characters to see what I can come up with, though as you can see they still ended up being heavily Animated Series-inspired. Kind of hard to mess with perfection I guess.
Now here's a bit of what I was thinking with all of them...Poison Ivy
AKA Curve E. Voluptuous. Ivy was kind of a last minute design I decided to squeeze in with the other three. I never liked her leaf bathing suits, so I gave her this dress I'm rather fond of, even if it's a bit on the ventilated side. I also don't like her with green skin, it looks silly to me (She-Hulk?), so she has regular skin with some little green um...vine-veins...on her face, neck and ankles. The Joker
Joker and Harley are the most BTAS-like. I actually was planning to give him a more slicked back hair-do, but dagnabbit he looks too good with this hairstyle. XD I tried to give him a 'dipped in chemicals' look here; his skin is more chemical green than clown white, there is a little bit of staining around his hairline, and his eyes are bloodshot. His irises are also brown but are supposed to be stained in such a way that they're almost red too. I don't like him with green eyes, don't ask me why.Harley Quinn
Baarreelly any changes here, Harley Quinn's original design was already perfect to me, so I don't think really needs a change, but again this is redesigns for fun and I really wanted to try using stripes on her. This looked GREAT in lineart form, not so much in color. Rather than grunging, gothing, Dark Knighting, or skanking her up like most people do, I just added in some more HARLEQUIN elements...you know, the jester thing she's supposed
to be? So some more...pom-poms on her torso and a new collar design. Also a diamond on her cheek just 'cause I liked it there. Her red color is a little more on the magenta side too, because in her appearance in Justice League Unlimited, her reds looked like that. I kind of liked it, so I used it.Scarecrow
AKA Patches. Scarecrow is my second favorite villain next to Joker, but in both the animated series and what I've seen of him in the comics, he was kind of silly looking in his Scarecrow costume that looks like something you'd pick up on Halloween. I thought you were trying to intimidate people, Scarecrow? =/ They did much better with his look in the New Batman Adventures, which obviously I had in mind here what with the black hair, similar eyes, and walking stick. I still have some issues with this design, but I like it for the most part.
....and there you go! I'd like to do more redesigns later, maybe Batman (again), Catwoman, Riddler....but I hope these amuse you guys in the meantime.Vermillion Works: www.vermillionworks.com
